Give to Grow 2026: Help Homeward Bound Make a Difference for Local Cats
This November, Homeward Bound is excited to once again participate in Sabetha Give to Grow, an annual giving event that brings our community together to support local nonprofit organizations.
Terri McKim, Amber Schuetz, and Gina Miller at last year’s Give to Grow event, representing Homeward Bound and our mission to help local cats.
For Homeward Bound, Give to Grow is one of the most important fundraisers of the year. Every donation helps us continue providing spay and neuter services, medical care, food assistance, and other support for cats right here in our local communities.
And during Give to Grow, your support can go even further.
Small Donations Make a Big Difference
Much of Homeward Bound's work happens quietly, one cat at a time.
A community cat is trapped, spayed or neutered, and safely returned.
A caregiver struggling to feed a colony receives food.
A sick or injured cat gets the veterinary care it needs.
A litter is prevented before it's ever born.
These individual acts add up to something much bigger: fewer unwanted litters, healthier community cat populations, and less suffering.
For example:
$50 can cover the cost of neutering a male cat.
$80 can cover the cost of spaying a female cat.
$160 can spay two female cats and help prevent countless future kittens.
Larger gifts help us provide medical care, food, supplies, and support for cats and caregivers throughout our service area.
Our Focus Is Prevention
One of Homeward Bound's biggest priorities is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).
Rather than waiting for more homeless kittens and cats to need rescue, TNR addresses the problem at its source. Community cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, provided necessary veterinary care, and returned to their familiar outdoor homes when appropriate.
It's not always the most visible part of animal rescue, but we believe it's some of the most important work we can do.
Every cat we fix means fewer kittens born outside and fewer animals competing for already-limited homes and rescue resources.
Supporting the People Who Care for Them
Helping community cats also means helping the people who look after them.
Throughout the year, Homeward Bound works with local caregivers who provide food, shelter, and daily care for outdoor cats. We help with spay and neuter costs, veterinary care, food, traps, transportation, and other resources whenever we're able.
We also assist owned pets when resources allow and work to find appropriate homes for cats who can be adopted.
For feral cats who need a safer place to live, our Working/Barn Cat Program helps connect them with farms, barns, shops, and other suitable environments where they can thrive while receiving food, water, shelter, and ongoing care.
There isn't one solution that works for every cat. Our goal is to meet each situation where it is and find the solution that makes the greatest long-term difference.
Give Local. Make an Impact.
Homeward Bound serves cats and caregivers throughout Sabetha, Bern, Seneca, and the surrounding Northeast Kansas area.
When you give to Homeward Bound, your donation stays local.
It helps a cat you may have driven past on your way to work. It helps the neighbor quietly feeding a colony behind their house. It helps prevent the next litter of kittens from being born outside without somewhere to go.
Most importantly, it allows us to keep saying yes when someone in our community asks for help.
Join Us for Give to Grow 2026
This November, we hope you'll consider supporting Homeward Bound through Sabetha Give to Grow 2026.
We'll share more information as Give to Grow approaches, including this year's dates, giving options, and ways you can help spread the word.
Until then, follow Homeward Bound on social media to see the cats, caregivers, and stories your support makes possible.
Thank you for helping us create a community where fewer cats are born homeless and more of the animals already here receive the care they deserve.
Together, we can prevent suffering before it starts.
