Creating Forever Homes: A Families Journey with Homeward Bound
At Homeward Bound, we believe every cat deserves a loving home, and every adopter has a unique story to tell. We’ve been privileged to connect with incredible people who open their hearts and homes to stray and feral cats in need.
One of those adopters is Robert from Kansas City, Kansas, whose journey with Homeward Bound spans over five years and two beloved cats.
Robert’s first experience with Homeward Bound began in 2019, when he adopted Zeus, a feisty orange kitten with a big personality. Like all of our adopters, he received detailed health information, photos, and videos to ensure Zeus was the right fit for his home.
Five years later, Robert found himself opening his heart once again—to a tiny kitten named Bitsy Jones in 2024.
“I know Homeward Bound has done wonders to save and find homes for the lost and scared kitties, and our family is lucky enough to have two of those wonders under our roof.”
What Homeward Bound Does
Our mission is to humanely reduce the stray and feral cat population in Nemaha County through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), medical care, fostering, and adoption. When a kitten like Bitsy Jones is found alone and vulnerable, we work tirelessly to ensure they receive the medical attention, socialization, and love they need to thrive.
For many adopters, the process isn’t just about taking in a cat.
The Impact of Adoption
Every adoption story is a testament to the power of compassion. Without adopters like Robert, Zeus and Bitsy Jones might never have found a home. Instead, they are cherished family members, bringing joy and companionship to their new home.
At Homeward Bound, we are honored to facilitate these connections. Every adoption means one less stray struggling to survive, one more home filled with love, and a community working together to make a difference.
If you’re interested in adopting, fostering, or supporting our mission, reach out to Homeward Bound today. There’s always another cat waiting for their forever home—maybe it’s yours.
